Monochromatic - Monochromatic colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue. Example of a monochromatic color scheme. Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints.

Complementary- The complementary color scheme is made of two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. This scheme looks best when you put a warm color against a cool color, for example, red versus green-blue. The complementary scheme is intrinsically high-contrast.

Analogous- The analogous color scheme uses colors that are adjacent to each other on the color wheel. One color is used as a dominantcolor while others are used to enrich the scheme. The analogous scheme is similar to the monochromatic one, but offers more nuances.

Accented Neutral- Triadic Color Scheme – Any three colors on the color wheel which are the same distance apart – such as the primary or the secondary colors. Accented Neutral Color Scheme - Several neutral colors plus one hue from the color wheel as anaccent. Example: brown, beige, black white and blue.

Warm Colors-The phrase used to describe any color that is vivid or bold in nature. Warm colors are those that tend to advance in space and can be overwhelming. Examples of warm colors include red and orange (think exciting fire and volcanoes).

Cold Colors- The phrase used to describe any color that is calm or soothing in nature. Cool colors are not overpowering and tend to recede in space. Examples of cool colorsinclude white, gray, blue and green (think calming blue waters). Contrast with warmcolors.

Triad- Make sure you have enough contrast when choosing an analogous color scheme. Choose one color to dominate, a second to support. The third color is used (along with black, white or gray) as an accent. Triad. A triadic color scheme usescolors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel.

Neutral-The addition of light blue creates an "Accented Analogous" color scheme. Color schemes can contain different "Monochromatic" shades of a single color; for example, a color scheme that mixes different shades of green, ranging from very light (white), to very neutral (gray), to very dark (black).
